The Blessing and Curse of an Ego
Some call it cocky, some call it a swagger, some like to call it the “it” factor. Whatever you call it, you better have it, if you want to be BIG! In the world of entertainment, the World’s best control the stage. When Beyonce Knowles hits the stage, or Tom Brady comes to line of scrimmage, Your getting the best. Your getting someone who posesses the highest level of confidence at what they do. They say that Big-Time people have a certain presence about them when they walk in a room. An heir of confidence.
At Before You Go Pro we believe a strong ego is essential to an athlete’s career. A strong ego is essential for the tough times. Not the times when everyone is kissing your behind. Unfortunately, the problem that we see with many of today’s athletes, is that their ego’s are becoming a burden to their success. How is that? The very attribute that propelled your career, is now your downfall!
Now more than ever, athletes need to learn how to balance their superstar ego’s. The entertainer who can keep a level head and stay humble, when society puts him on a golden pedestal. Is the entertainer who can transcend time. The entertainer that people always remember. The Legends.
Not the shooting star, who we only remember for a season.
So to all the young athletes out there. As you prepare this summer to garner all the press clippings this fall. I ask you. Will YOUR ego become YOUR blessing or YOUR curse?
