The NFL’s worst nightmares are starting to come true. The leagues star players have begun to self-destruct.
If you are a car part maker and you find that one of your products is defective, all you have to do is fix it. But what do you do when people are your product, and the product is defective? Welcome to the NFL’s growing problem. A problem that starts when young people are not ready for how much they have been given.
Let’s be truthful, our countries most popular sport is all about violence, and the sport goes great over grass, with big, tough players playing it. But as we speak, the tough persona that players are applauded for on the field has them destroying their careers, their lives, and the lives of others, off the field.
Just today, Aaron Hernandez, the New England Patriots star Tight End, was arrested for murder!
My first thought was, DAMN. Another one bites the dust!
Outside of being labeled a child molester, is there really any other title someone could have that is more repulsive than being called a murderer? And now that’s the label our country is passing on to our most prized athletes.
The thing that concerns me the most, is that this may just be the beginning of a growing trend. Keep in mind. This is the same league and sport, that witnessed a player kill his girlfriend, then commit suicide just last year. Now, the season hasn’t even started yet, and NFL Commissioner, Roger Godell, is dealing with a young star being eliminated from the game for murder. Not good for business!
The industry, and its fans need to wake up and see these athletes are crying out for help. If we are going to pack stadiums to applaud these athletes for everything but character, let’s make sure they fully realize the responsibility that comes with the applause.
