With a new football season right around the corner, most football players have already started training camp or are about to. With all of the hard work and effort you put in this off-season, you deserve to have a great training camp so you can get your season off to a good start. Please check out our four training camp hacks for the 2017-18 season, geared towards helping you have a huge year. Let’s go!
Hack #1: Be a Playbook Opportunist
Everything that the Offense and Defense is going to run the first few weeks of training camp will be in the front of everyone’s playbook. Keep in mind, your job is to dominate in practice to create the opportunity to play in the game. Talk to a friend on the other side of the ball and let each other see the others playbook for 30 minutes. It can be a friendly secret, but both of you should get off to a hot start in training camp.
Hack #2: First In – Last Out Mentality
It may seem cliché, but the first guy in and the last guy out of the athletic facility, film room, football field, etc. is always noticed by the coaches. You want people to know and perceive that you take your craft seriously. Being First in – Last out, is always a great place to start.
Hack #3: Fresh Legs Last Longer
Training camp is a grind. Everyone is fresh in the beginning of camp, but those who are making plays throughout the entire camp will be the ones who play on game days. Take care of your legs early. Even if you feel good, make sure you are taking ice baths, getting off your feet during your down time and staying hydrated.
Hack #4: One-on-One Time
Every once in a while during training camp, request some one-on-one time with your position coach. Whether it is a little private time in the film room or extra time on-the-field to go over technique. Coaches always remember players who requested their time during training camp when it’s time to make cuts or set the depth chart for the fall.
