If you haven’t caught on yet. Many College football recruiters only sign athletes from certain high schools. Most of the athletes we find who feel overlooked and left out, come from schools that traditionally don’t produce much College football talent. If you have ever wondered why so many College football recruiters are close-minded about the schools they recruit from. Checkout our top 4 Reasons below.

The Growth of High School Recruiting

Today’s top high school football programs, recruit just as hard as most College football programs. This means young talent is spotted very early. Typically by private high schools with the cache and track record, to woo our Country’s next generation of big-time talent. It’s a business.

Athletic Prep

The big-time high school football programs typically have strong in-season and off-season training regiments. They also commonly play in the toughest divisions and conferences. This provides “Athletic Prep,” for our Country’s top recruits.

It’s easy for recruiters to justify taking one player from a well-known school and conference, over an up-and-coming athlete from an unknown high school, based on the Athletic Prep the kid from the proven school has gone through.

Academic Prep

College coaches hate  academic problems. College coaches want to focus on football. Not school. Their salary and the majority of their incentives are based on your athletic development, not your academic development.

Most College recruiters will figure if a young man can handle the course load at a  good academic high school. That same player should be more inclined to handle the academic load at their university. Compared to an athlete coming from a high school the recruiter may be unfamiliar with. Or a high school with a sub par academic reputation.

It takes a special young man to play football and thrive academically at a school like Cal-Berkeley or Duke. If a College recruiter has signed kids from a particular high school before and the kids performed well academically. It makes it easier for the recruiter to pull the trigger on the next kid from the same school.

Social Prep

College football recruiters have recruiting territories. It’s their job to know the top high school football programs in their recruiting area. Every once in a while a College coach may stretch on a kid with questionable off-the-field character. But no College can build a recruiting class or a successful College program, based on borderline character kids.

This is why College recruiters stick to certain schools they know hold their student-athletes to a higher code of conduct socially. Recruiters hate off-the-field problems even more than they hate academic problems. Certain high schools have a history of producing athletes who do well socially in College. Recruiters know which schools these are!
